10 Easy Ways to Kickstart your Social Awareness

Share

So… I have selected a few easy ways to help you boost your social awareness and make sure you get the voice you need when using social media. If you would like to find out how to post on Facebook or Twitter. Check out these articles first:

1. Schedule posts

Scheduling posts is a great way to keep your profiles active when you don’t have the time to do so. Facebook allows you to schedule posts within Facebook, but if you would like to schedule posts on for example Linkedin or Twitter you would need to use a platform called HootSuite. If you do some research and find out the best times for you to posts, make sure you have a post scheduled for that day and time.

2. Get on all relevant social platforms (reserve names)

When you set up your social media accounts, the obvious ones are going to me Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram and so on. But make sure you get on every platform possible to reserve your name and hold a solid brand appearance. Heres a list of other social media platforms you should get yourself on.

• Linkedin

• YouTube

• Tumblr

• Flickr

• Google +

• Reddit

When you get yourself on these platforms, make sure you fill out the profiles and add an image. Don’t leave it 100% blank.

3. Return the favour

When on Twitter, try and return the favours. If someone retweets you, thank them, mention them, retweet one of their tweets or even favourite one of theirs. It helps you as it they may say something to you and or even click on some links on your profile.

4. Email Signature

Make the most of everything, always try and send someone somewhere when you have their attention. One great way of doing this is to add an email signature to your email (if you haven’t already). Add links to your social media sites so you can build your following.

5. Build a Twitter list

By building a list and either putting in your employees in or bringing others together to discuss will help you bring new ideas to the table and be talked about more. For example if you have your employees in one list, you can have people subscribe to it and get the latest details of new ideas and so much more.

6. Add images to your posts

Adding images to your posts gets more attention than those without images. For example tweeting with an image is 150% more likely to be retweeted or favourited. Heres an example of a great image and short text tweet.

7. Not design savvy? Use Fiverr

Want a great design for your cover photos on Twitter and Facebook or anywhere else for that matter? Take a look at www.fiverr.com you can get a lot of things created which would normally cost a lot for… yeah thats right, a fiver.

8. Ask Questions

This helps in two ways. One you will find out an answer you are looking for (obviously) and two you will be able get a conversation going between you and others on Twitter which your followers and their followers will see which builds an audience and leads to website traffic and more followers. Simple.

9. Use an appropriate amount of hashtags

Some people over use hashtags and it leaves the tweet or post looking like spam. Heres some examples of good use of hashtags.

These hashtags are subtle, so if someone is looking for #Plugins they will find my article, this is then targeted to them which has a higher percentage of them clicking on the link to my website which is then a potential customer.

10. Cross promote

After reading this, if you haven’t already you should be signed up to a handful of social media networks. What you need to do now is cross promote, to do this all you need to do is in your about section on your profiles have a link sending them to your other social media sites.

For example: Our main Twitter is @SimpleTurtles. We also have our promoting Twitter @SimplePromote and here we promote @SimpleTurtles and our website.
