There are many reasons why you would want to redirect a domain. The main reason for redirecting a domain you own could be that your main website is .com but you also own the .co.uk version so you want to redirect .co.uk to your .com website.
To redirect a domain, you will need to log in to your hosting account. This guide is for HostGator but this can still be done with other hosting accounts but options may be a little different. Go to Hosting > Domains.
Scroll down and look for Redirects.
Click on Redirects and you will be taken to this page below.
First you have the option to select Permanent or Temporary.
Permanent: A permanent redirect will notify the visitor’s browser to update any bookmarks that are linked to the page that is being redirected
Temporary: Temporary redirects will not update the visitor’s bookmarks.
Next you can select your domain you want to redirect from the dropdown list then type the domain you would like to direct it to. Then finally, you can select whether the domain will redirect with or without www.
Select Add and you would have successfully redirected one of your your domains.
