Backup your WordPress website

Backups are ridiculously important and are widely overlooked.

Reasons why people don’t backup:

• Think there is to much work involved (Not at all with WordPress).

• Assume your hosting company has backups of you website.

• Think its wasted space on your server.

Well if you think any of those you should really take 5 minutes to read this guide and have your backup setup and ready in the next few minutes.

So like all things on WordPress, its as simple as going to your WordPress dashboard, selecting Plugins > Add New.

Type in BackUpWordPress into the search bar.

BackupWordPress plugin

Install and Activate Plugin. You will then have a new option in tools. Go to Tools > Backups. The plugin automatically sets itself and begins backing up your WordPress website here:

You can select Run Now to get your first backup sorted (recommended), if not it will automatically do it daily at 11.00pm and store 7 backups at a time. To change the settings you will find Settings just next to Run Now.

Here you can change the Backup type, Schedule time and Start time.

Recommended Settings:

• Both Database & files.

• Once daily

• Here you should select a time when you finish updating your website, so for example set it for 6 o’clock or if you work on it until late, keep it at 23.00.
