Twitter marketing tips

Are you using your Twitter account to its full potential? We have pulled together a few of the best tips and tricks to boost your Twitter followers and even increase traffic to your website or preferred destination.

1. Reaching the correct market

When using Twitter you need to make sure you are engaging with users who will either be potential customers or people who inspire you.

The best way to get the followers you want:

> Similar companies followers

By following a similar companies followers you have the opportunity for interested followers to follow you. The idea of this is, if they follow them – why won’t the follow you?

> People who inspire you

Follow people who you can check out and use to inspire your company. Again if you are on their followers list, this could lead to more people following you via that connection.

> Promoters

If you follow promoters and use their #HashTags you can get your tweets retweeted to all of their followers, resulting in more follows.

You can try following our promoting company and use the hashtag #SPBiz for retweets > get promoted here

2. Don’t wait to be found

You have to follow more people, if they follow you back it’s likely they have clicked on your profile and liked what they see (potential customer). This even results in them clicking on a link to your website so, make sure you have a link to your website in your Twitter description.

3. Twitter Apps

Download an app for your mobile phone or tablet which can help you see who does not follow you. You do not want your follow to following ratio get out of hand – having 50 followers to 1000 following will lead to people not to follow, just because you look like a passive follower who does not have any interest in the people they follow.

4. Content over pitch

If you are interesting to follow, it will lead to more sales in the long run, much more effective than constantly talking about your product. Your tweets will be retweeted and shared with overs which will gain new followers and potential customers.

We don’t specifically sell our product with a price tag, we share what can be achieved from our product. We then go on to give out free tips and tricks which interest people and result in follows and website traffic.

5. Engage

Remember it’s social media, be social!

You need to engage with other people, and that doesn’t mean send them direct messages about your products – ask questions which can lead to you introducing your company/product, don’t force it upon them.

Another thing to take into consideration is don’t be a boring corporate company! Be funny, be cool, act like a person not a company.

#SecretTwitterTip: A great way of engaging via direct messages is to simply say “Hey, where are you based” 87% of the time you get a reply which can lead to you pitching your product or service.
