Clogging up your HTML source code with unneeded code can just be messy. You will find a couple of meta tags in your header that aren’t really needed. The version of your WordPress is one of them, this can be found by anyone by simply going to your website, right clicking and selecting View Page Source.
<meta name="generator" content="WordPress 4.2" />
Having this information on show for anyone to see can cause problems you didn’t think ever could. If you do not regularly update your WordPress (core) hackers will be able to see this and it will make your website vulnerable. Even if you stay on top of it and always have the latest WordPress, you still might as well remove this information as it is not needed.
To do this simply add the code below to your themes function file. To find this go to Appearance > Editor and select Theme Functions (functions.php)
remove_action( 'wp_head', 'wp_generator' ) ; remove_action( 'wp_head', 'wlwmanifest_link' ) ; remove_action( 'wp_head', 'rsd_link' ) ;
Add this code to the bottom of the rest of the coding. Take extra care when doing this, if you are not confident with code, do not risk it.
